16-17 - Africa Fintech Summit

(Tue – Wed) Cairo. AFTS is a unique space to explore ideas, mobilize investments and collaborate. Each year in April AFTS coincides with the World Bank Spring meeting in Washington, D.C. This year the November meting is hosted in Cairo – a dynamic fintech ecosystem that’s driving innovation, attracting record-level investment capital, and building bridges between North and Sub-Saharan Africa.

(Wed – Fri) Abidjan and hybrid. AIF (launched 2018) is an initiative of the African Development Bank with 7 partners: Africa 50; Africa Finance Corporation; African Export-Import Bank; Development Bank of Southern Africa; Trade and Development Bank; European Investment Bank; and Islamic Development Bank. The 2021 Market Days in Abidjan have theme “Accelerating transformative investments in Africa”. Discussions on: agriculture and agro-processing; energy and climate; health; ICT and telecommunication; and industrialization and trade.

2-4 - African Economic Conference

(Thu-Sat) Cabo Verde,  jointly organized by African Development Bank (AfDB), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The theme of this year’s conference is “Financing Africa’s post-COVID-19 development”.

An opportunity to reflect on the institutions and the financial system needed to ensure effective domestic resource mobilization, to improve the regulatory responses to emerging and innovative sources of finance.
