It’s conference season again – from now until Christmas. The Events page of African Capital Markets News features a strong line-up of conferences on Africa’s capital markets and securities exchanges. Highlights include the top-ranked Africa Financial Services Investment Conference AFSIC 2026 in London and the 29th annual African Securities Exchanges Association conference to be held in Mozambique.
This month alone, September, we have nine events listed, ranging from a 1-hour webinar organized by the International Capital Market Association to a 5-day pan-African forum in Nairobi organized by Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat and many others. Other highlights include Angola and Botswana investment days run by the London Stock Exchange and Bullish Africa in New York, organized by the team behind The Kenyan Wall Street and a side event to the 81st UN General Assembly.
October has seven events including the Africa Financial Services Investment Conference (AFSIC) in London (ACMN is a media partner). This is probably the biggest gathering each year, drawing together thousands of investors, development finance institutions, exchanges, stockbrokers, asset allocators and many more. So big is its convening power that other events have started to spring up around it, so that attendees can make the most of their airfares, such as the AVCA Sustainable Investing in Africa summit and the UK-Africa Trade & Investment Forum. The Financial Times Africa summit is another top gathering, in London the following week.
November highlights include the Africa Financial Summit, this year in Luanda, the Africa PPP (Public Private Partnership) in Nairobi and the Africa Fintech Forum in Lagos. Top annual attraction for shaping the future of stock exchanges is the annual conference of the African Securities Exchanges Association hosted by Bolsa de Valores de Moçambique. The theme is “Africa Driving Capital Markets Integration”. The confirmed line-up is truly impressive, including top policy makers such as Kristalina Ivanova Georgieva (MD of the IMF), Sidi Ould Tah (President of African Development Bank), Nandini Sukumar (CEO of the World Federation of Exchanges), Jean-Paul Servais, Chair of the Board of IOSCO and securities exchange CEOs from across Africa and leading world exchanges (London Japan, World Federation of Exchanges, etc.), as well as top bankers and many others.
