Yields climbing on Cote d’Ivoire international $2.3 bn bond

Markets are nervous about the Cote d’Ivoire bond, worried that the country may not meet a payment deadline. Reuters reports today (27 December): “Ivory Coast’s $2.3 billion bond due in 2032 fell to a record low last week as investors worried the country would not meet a $30 million bond payment.”

Merger talks for European securities markets

Two big European alternative markets – Chi-X Europe and BATS – are talking about a merger as the European stockmarket sector could start to consolidate. The two issued a joint statement on 22 December confirming they “have entered into exclusive negotiations regarding the potential sale of Chi-X Europe to BATS Global Markets.”
